CREATING THE LIBRARY STAFF POSITIONS, DEFINING ITS FUNCTIONS AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREOF.

WHEREAS, public libraries are essential repositories of knowledge and information for the educational, spiritual, cultural, economic and social development of the community;

WHEREAS, public libraries provide opportunities and facilities for children, young people, adults and senior citizens for their wholesome development;

WHEREAS, public libraries can greatly accelerate cultural and intellectual growth of people;

WHEREAS, an informed and literate citizenry is the strength and backbone of any nation;

WHEREAS, collaborative effort, The National Library and the Local Government of Maribojoc shall undertake the establishment of a Municipal Library in Maribojoc, Bohol.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Government of Maribojoc represented by its Honorable Mayor binds to cooperate with the National Library in the implementation and operation of the library;

WHEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan of Maribojoc, Bohol, that:

SECTION 1: Positions created

a.) 1 – Librarian I, Salary Grade 10
b.) I – Clerk I
c.) I – Utility Worker

SECTION 2: Definitions.-

Librarian – a person in charge of a library, qualified by training for library service.
Clerk I – an employee who act as an assistant to the librarian and who helps in the care of its records, correspondence, properties, etc.
Utility Worker – a member of the staff who acts for helps in keeping the library serviceable.

SECTION 3: The positions created shall be under the Office of the Mayor. The librarian
shall be appointed by the Mayor and shall receive an annual salary of One undred Nine Thousand (P 109,000.00) Pesos.

SECTION 4: Appropriation.-

The amount which is commensurate to salary grade 10 is hereby appropriate out of the surplus, C.Y. 2000.

SECTION 5: For the purpose of proper implementation of this ordinance, the hiring of
additional personnel is necessary such as; Clerk I and Utility Worker as may be determined by the Mayor.

SECTION 6: This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.

Let copies be furnished the Office of the Municipal Budget Officer, Municipal Accountant. The National Library, Manila and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for review of this ordinance.
