RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SINCERE THANKS AND DEEP APPRECIATION TO THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL FOR RESPONSIBLE VOTING (PPCRV-Maribojoc) FOR THEIR INVALUABLE ASSISTANCE IN HELPING THE CONDUCT OF HONEST, ORDERLY AND PEACEFUL ELECTIONS IN MAY, 2007.

WHEREAS, there is no gainsaying that the May 14, 2007 polls was one of the most passionate and hotly-contested electoral exercises the municipality has ever experienced in recent past;

WHEREAS, the great political divide was further polarized by the different issues fanned by strong partisan support from supporters coming from the opposite political fence;

WHERERAS, one of the many factors that somehow contributed to the muddling up of issues was the perception that, whether real or imagined, the parties and candidates, employed such strategies, tactics and maneuvers as to gain and maximize their political advantage over the other;

WHEREAS, the political tempest that was building up steam somehow tempered with the coming into everyone’s consciousness the presence of the church-based electoral watchdog, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible voting (PPCRV) in the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol;

WHEREAS, the PPCRV-Maribojoc, was a non-political, non-partisan group whose only advocacy was to ensure that the people exercise not only their right to vote but also to exercise such rights in such responsible manner;

WHEREAS, the PPCRV-Maribojoc’s continuing advocacy for voters education somehow enlightened the electorate and thus cushioned the impact of an avalanche of political propaganda as nothing more than a part of effective electoral strategy to ensure victory, thus allowing people to be more discerning in their choice of candidates at the polling places;

WHEREAS, the PPCRV-Maribojoc’s initiative, the conduct of elections in our town was relatively hones, orderly and peaceful;

WHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved, that an expression of sincere thanks and appreciation be extended to the PPCRV-Maribojoc for their invaluable assistance in the conduct of an honest, orderly and peaceful May 14, 2007 elections in the Municipality of Maribojoc,

BE IT RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this resolution be furnished, the Parish Pastoral Council, through its President, Mr. Precillano E. Echavia, Rev. Fr. Efren D. Dolauta, Parish Priest, Maribojoc, Bohol, Mrs. Bibian B. Anquilero, Election Officer, Hon. Leoncio B. Evasco, Jr. Local Chief Excutive and Mr. Victor Lapiz, MLGOO-DILG, all of Maribojoc, Bohol..
