AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING TAILORS AND DRESSMAKERS TO OBTAIN MAYOR’S PERMIT IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC, PROVINCE OF BOHOL.

WHEREAS, Republic No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, has given Local Government Units greater autonomy, especially the power to generate its own sources of income;
WHEREAS, Section 147 of the said Local Government Code of 1991 authorize the Sangguniang Bayan in the Municipality of Maribojoc to fix thr rate for the imposition of fees or charges on occupation, except as reserve to the Province in the Section 139 of this code;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan of Marobojoc, Bohol that;
Sec.1- Definition of terms: The following terms used in the Ordinance shall have the meaning, to wit;
(a.) Tailor – one whose business is to cut out and make men’s clothes and ladies costumes.
(b.) Dressmaker – one who cut outs and make ladies costumes or mend garments.
Sec.2- After the due consultations with a number of Tailors and Dressmakers, it was unanimously decided that there shall be levied upon theme, Tailors and Dressmakers doing the tailoring and dressmaking at their respective houses within the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol at the rate of TWENTY FIVE PESOS ONLY (P25.00) per year presenting Mayor’s Permit.
Sec.3- The Municipality of Maribojoc through its Municipal Treasurer shall not collect any other fees or charges upon other tailor and dressmaker except what is imposed in Section 2 of this Ordinance.
Sec.4- Exemptions: Holders of License and Mayor’s Permit for tailoring and dressmaking business in their shops are exempted from the Mayor’s Permit imposed herein. Also exempted are tailors and dressmakers with Employers and do not accept job to be done in their respective houses or if there exist Employer-Employee relationships.
Se.5- Penalties: Any tailor and dressmaker found guilty of violating any of the acts or omission contained in the preceeding Section shall be punished by a fine of TWO HUNDRED PESOS (P200.00) or imprisonment of two (2) days but not exceeding five (5) days or both at the discretion of the court.
Sec.6- Repealing Clause: This ordinance repeals all other Ordinances, rules and regulations inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed and / or amended accordingly.
Sec.7- Effectivity: This ordinance shall take effect upon it’s approval.
