Maribojoc intensifies coastal management
MARIBOJOC- The municipal government here has intensified its coastal resources management program as Mayor Leoncio Evasco places the rehabilitation of Maribojoc Bay among the town’s priorities.
The effort recently resulted to the arrest of five fishermen engaged in illegal fishing along the seawaters of barangays Guiwanon and Punta Cruz.
A joint PNP- Bantay Dagay Sea-Borne patrol arrested on Sunday night last week two fishermen who were caught using illegal fishing gears in the seawaters of barangay Guiwanon.
The team apprehended Pedro Cabahug and Marlon Cagais, both based at Burgos St., in Tagbilaran City, who used an electric shiner which electrified a fish trap locally know as “payao”.

The PO3 Carlito Curayag led the patrol together with PO1 Mario Dapitilla, and Bantay Dagat enforcers Narciso Yap and Nicomedes Baluma.
A joint team of PNP and Bantay Dagat conducted another sea-borne patrol operation along the seawaters of PuntaCruz on Tuesday night last week which resulted to arrest of Allan Abuyabor, Rustom Jaluag and Stephen Estillore of Gallares St., Tagbilaran City.
Abuyabor, Jaluag and Estillore yielded an electric shiner pump boat engine. The raiding team that operated Tuesday night was composed of PO3 Curayag PO1 Dapitilla, PO1 Victor Majomot Jr., Yap of the Bantay Dagat, and Barangay Tanod Meracleo Elcana Jr. In both operations, the police used the technology of global positioning system (GPS).
On the other hand, Mayor Evasco also created on Tuesday last week, the Waterworks Service Management Office (WSMO) and the General Services Office (GSO), both under the Office of the Mayor.
During the meeting of the waterworks personnel on Tuesday afternoon last week, Mayor Evasco announced the designation of waterworks in-charge Ric Nocarda as manager and Engr. Nestoral Flores as the new general service officer.

Maribojoc comes up with Eco Enterprises Mngt section
MARIBOJOC MAYOR LEONCIO “BOY” Evasco Jr. created Tuesday last week the Economic Enterprises Management Section to intensify the municipality’s campaign to increase revenues by profitably managing its economic enterprises and streamline operations of the municipal treasurer’s office
Through Administration Order 1, which took effect on August 15, Evasco created the new section under the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, to cover the operations of public market, slaughterhouse, municipal cemetery, parking area, cultural center and the Punta Cruz watch- tower.
During the mayor’s meeting with concerned personnel, Evasco a nuanced the designation of former Kagawad Dioscoro Leopardas as manager of the economic enterprises management section.
Leopardas shall ensure the maintenance of sanitation and orderliness of the facilities and their premises, imposition of taxes and fees in accordance with the town’s revenue and tax code, and undertakes daily remittances of collections from these enterprises except the Punta Cruz collection which is to be done every day.
Leopardas is also tasked to coordinate with the municipal engineers for repairs and maintenance of existing structures and premises, prevents unauthorized improvements and illegal construction within these facilities, and ensure compliance of all involved personnel of the daily working hours.
The new eco-enterprises manager will also formulate, to gather with the unit heads under the section, the annual business plans for each component and prepares monthly report for submission to the municipal treasurer’s office on the performance of each unit.
Leopardas will also recommend to the office of the municipal mayor, new policies, policy adjustments and changes for the Sangguniang Bayan’s appropriate legislative action. (Fred C. Fruertes)
Maribojoc SB bares committee chairmanships

MARIBOJOC- The Sagguniang Bayan of this coastal municipality released Friday last week the chairmanship of the different standing and special committees on its second regular session.
Based on resolution 060, Series of 2007 authored by kagawad Albert Arangoso, Vice Mayor Ben Reulla chairs the Appropriations and Finance committee, and the Environmental Protection and Ecology committee.
Senior Municipal Councilor Fructuoso Redulla Jr. Chairs the Committee on Resolution and Ordinance, the Committee on Trade and Industry, and the Committee on the Fishing and Acquatic Resources.
Councilor Arangoso chairs the Committee on Rules and Privileges and the Committee on good government and public ethics; while Municipal Councilor Melecio chairs the Committee on Market and Slaughterhouse, and the Committee on Peace and Order.
The Committee on Tourism and Beautification, and the Committee on Social Services are under Councilor Reynaldo Villas.
Councilor Cecilia Autentico chairs the Committee on women, children and family relations, the Committee on Education and Culture and the Committee on Senior Citizens.
Councilor Zeus Manual Descallar chairs the Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure, and the Committee on Health and Sanitation.Councilor Gumersindo Arocha chairs the Labor amd Empoyment committee and the Cadastral Survey committee.
The ways and means committee, the Human Rights and Public Information committee, and the transportation communications committee went to Councilor Leoncio Reselosa.
The Barangay Affairs and the Agriculture committees went to Councilor Pedro Madaje; while the youth and sports development went to Councilor Marian Veloso.
