PROTECTING ALL BIRDS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC, BOHOL

Preliminary Notes
WHEREAS, many years had passed, herons, wild ducks and other birds were abundant in the seashore of Maribojoc Bay and in the ricefields of Aliguay, San Roque, Busao, Toril, Agahay and Cabawan in the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol;
WHEREAS, after lapse of many years, these birds disappeared in the seashores, in the ricefields and few herons can be seen in the ricefields of Busao, Maribojoc, Bohol;
WHEREAS, this kind of bird spicy should be preserved because today they are considered an endangered specie;
WHEREAS, herons are considered friends of rice farmers on the ground that they wade in the muddy places like the ricefields to look for foods and at the same time they help farmers pick out insects in the ricefileds which can be beneficial to the growth of the growing palay;
WHEREAS, if the heron, wild duck and other birds will be plenty they can attract more tourists to visit the areas for they will enjoy seeing the gift of nature;
WHEREAS, if the heron and wild duck will be plenty, these will be part of our tourist attractions;
WHEREAS, to prevent the annihilation of this endangered spicy, an ordinance is crafted for its protection;
WHEREFORE, be it resolved by the Sangguniang Bayan in their session duly assembled;
BE IT ORDAINED by the Sangguniang Bayan of Maribojoc, Bohol, that:
SECTION 1: Definition of Terms.-
a. Bird – a warm-blooded, feathered, egglaying vertebrate
b. Heron – a long-legged wading bird related to stork usually white in color.
c. Hunting – an act of one that hunts using any method of capturing or killing herons and other similar species for food or sports with the use of gun, slinghot and other.
d. Endangered Species – imperil or expose to annihilation of such kind of bird spicy.
SECTION 2: Herons found in the seashores of Maribojoc Bay, in the riverbanks of Abatan river and the ricefields of Aliguay, San Roque, Toril, Busao, Agahay and Cabawan, Maribojoc ought to be protected and preserved for they are friends of farmers.
SECTION 3: Herons should be propagated by our farmers so that their species will be in abundant in this municipality.
SECTION 4: No person or group of persons shall hunt herons, wild ducks and other birds within the jurisdiction of the municipality.
SECTION 5: Penalty.- Any person who violates the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined in the amount of P1,500.00 or an imprisonment of five (5) days or at the discretion of the court.
SECTION 6: Effectivity.- This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
