AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING GUIDELINES FOR BARANGAY RESIDENTS LIVING AT THE MOUNTAIN AREAS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC, BOHOL.

Preliminary Notes

WHEREAS, there are barangays in the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol which are considered at risk on the ground that the houses and other public buildings are located in these areas;

WHEREAS, there are many houses and public buildings located along the cost wherein high mountains are at the background of these houses and buildings;

WHEREAS, it is imperative that precautionary measures will be adopted by the local government of Maribojoc, Bohol to avoid loss of lives and destruction of properties;

WHEREAS, the LGU-Maribojoc has requested agencies concerned for the evaluation of the mountain areas in the municipality;

WHEREAS, in order to prevent future destructions, residents in these areas must know what they will do when there is an impending calamity;

WHEREFORE, be it resolved by the Sangguniang Bayan in their session duly assembled;

BE IT ORDAINED by the Sangguniang Bayan of Maribojoc, Bohol, that:

SECTION 1: Definition of Terms.-

a. Foot – the lowest part or foundation

b. Mountain – a high elevation of land

c. Risk – hazard, or danger

SECTION 2: Guidelines on Families living at the foot of the mountain areas.-

a. Families living at the foot of the mountains must be extra careful during rainy days typhoon and earthquakes

b. Any person or group of persons who may observe unusual cracks in the mountains or landslide in any part of the mountains should immediately report to their barangay officials or municipal officials for verification and inspection and inspection.

c. Families living at the foot of the mountain should evacuate themselves to a safer place especially during heavy rains, typhoon and earthquake.

d. Every family shall aspires to have a communication which can be easily used during disaster time for warning purposes.

e. Ringing of school and chapel bells will be done in case of impending danger.

SECTION 3: Measures to be adopted by the Barangay Councils of the respective barangays
concern:

a. Adoption of Barangay Disaster Council provisions.

b. The Barangay Council should coordinate with the Municipal Officials and other government agencies for the safety of the residents.

c. The barangay residents in the mountain areas shall coordinate with the Barangay officials for the things to do in preparation of whatever future incidents.

d. To create awareness for the barangay residents on the risk in the areas they are living.

e. The barangay council should inspect regularly the mountain ranges and other highrisk areas of the respective barangay.

SECTION 4: Every family living at the foot of the mountain should help each other during
time of evacuation.

SECTION 5: Every family should be prepared for any untoward incident..

SECTION 6: Effectivity.- This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
