Evasco dedicates Demo Farm, Water, Solar and other LGU Projects to Maribojoc Women
Mayor Leoncio B. Evasco, Jr. dedicated the Binhi sa Panginabuhian Demo Farm and Training Center in Bayacabac, the Water System Project in Guiwanon and Punta Cruz, the Photovoltaic Water Pumping Station in Pagnitoan, the Senior Citizen’s Building in Poblacion and the newly-constructed Municipal Birthing and Day-Care Center to all Maribojoc Women. He relayed this message during the celebration of the Women’s Month last March 10 at the Dr. Abundio Echavez Memorial Sports and Cultural Center in Poblacion.
Evasco said that women are the main workforce of their homes because they make sure that their families are intact and their needs met. He shared, “It is for this reason that I initiated the Demonstration Farm on Organic Agriculture in Bayacabac to address their needs, this family-based project is for the women of our town.” He took notice of their strength in their homes, in the various fields that they engage in and living beyond the years of male counterparts.
The mayor also made mention of the responsibility of the local government unit over the water problem of the town. Maribojoc is a recipient of the ‘2013 Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat’ (SALINTUBIG) Project of the national government, where it seeks to pursue its commitment to provide water particularly for the poor and waterless communities nationwide. The Department of Health (DOH) funds and implements the SALINTUBIG project in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
According to the Mayor, the water tank and pipelines are already in place as the pipe laying is already finished. He said the LGU is just awaiting advice from DOH when to open the main pipe for homes in Guiwanon and Punta Cruz to have running water. The Waterworks Management System Office of the LGU tested the water pressure from Guiwanon down to Punta Cruz and said that the water was flowing freely. Mayor Evasco narrated how Punta Cruz had no water during his childhood and where he made a promise to himself to seek help from the national government in bringing water to his constituents.
The PV or solar cell system utilized by the Pagnitoan Water Pumping Station also addresses the problems of mothers in their households as the project will pump more water into their homes. Early in 2007, Evasco moved for the adoption of renewable energy in the town as he considered it environment-friendly and more advantageous to the local government and the people.
He also announced that Senior Citizens would soon have a place where they can converge as construction of the building is now going on. Other infrastructure facilities underway that will enhance delivery of basic services to women and their families are the newly-constructed Municipal Health Center with Birthing Facility (Phase 1) that will house a birthing facility, an infirmary clinic and a day-care center and the 3-storey Multi-purpose Building and Training Center, both in Poblacion. #
