PSC national coaches train local athletes

SOME 20 PERSONEL INCLUDING two top officials and 10 national coaches of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) hit Maribojoc this week and trained coaches and fool of trainors on 10 sports descript line at the Maribojoc Sport Cultural Center, Sta. Cruz Elementary School ground, Central Elementary School oval and Abatan River from May 15 to 18, this year.
Dubbed as the 1st Maribojoc Intensive Sports skill Enhancement Clinic (ISSEC), the training scheme paved the way from Mayor Jun Evasco’s grassroots sports development program. The bulk of the participants came from this coastal town and the neighboring City of Tagbilaran.
Mayor Evasco, in this welcome address last Thursday at the Marobojoc Sports and Cultural Center, bared that this training is a first step to big objective of producing top athletes from this town. This is also an effective way of eradicating drug addiction in this locality, he stressed.
Fr. Bing Uy, executive director of the Philippine Sports Commission who represented PSC Commission William “Butch” Ramirez who excused himself from the affair to defend the PSC budget for the Beijing Olympics, congratulated Mayor Evasco for being the First mayor of Bohol who conducted this sports summit.
Mayor Evasco also expressed his gratitude to Gov. Erico B. Aumentado, City Mayor Dan Lim and Congressman edgar Chatto for their all-out support to the program. Congressman Chatto Chatto was represented by Congressional Chief of Staff Isabelito Tongco the opening program. The other top PSC official who graced the affair was Executive Director or Joy Encabo. The PSC delegation, aside from Fr. Uy and Encabo, including three sports medicine experts, five administrative staff and 10 national coaches, The sports discipline tackle in the four-day gab were boxing, taekwondo, basketball, volleyball, athletics, canoe-kayak, dragon boat, base-ball, football and softball.
The gathering of national coaches and local players will close its curtains this afternoon. (FCF)
