AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE GROUP INSURANCE TO MEMBERS OF BARANGAY TANOD BRIGADES OR COMMUNITY SERVICE UNIT AND APPROPRIATING AMOUNT HEREOF REPRESENTING PREMIUM CONTRIBUTIONS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARIBOJOC, BOHOL.

WHEREAS, pursuant to Republic Act No. 7160 known as the Local Government Code of 1991, has given Local Government Units, specifically the Local Barangay Units, greater autonomy, particularly the power to enact ordinances and resolutions pertaining to peace and order in the locality;

WHEREAS, Section 391, paragraph 16, Chapter 4 of the Local Government Code of 1991, provides for the organization of the Community Service Units in order to assist the Local Barangay in its unrelentless efforts to fight lawlessness;

WHEREAS, In order to get the loyalty, sympathy and whole-hearted dedication and supports of the barangay tanods, it is therefore in order and fitting to give incentives in a form of life insurance for the future security of their families;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan of Maribojoc, Bohol, that:

SECTION: 1. Member of the Community Service Units or barangay tanods duly
certified in writing by the respective Barangay Captains are eligible or qualified to become a bonafide members of the Group Insurance Coverage.

SECTION: 2. There must be no substitution whatsoever of barangay tanods and only
those reported and certified by the respective twenty two (22) Barangay Captains of the Municipality of Maribojoc, Bohol.

SECTION: 3. There are one hundred Six (106) eligible or qualified and bonafied
members of the community service units or barangay tanods in the entire twenty two (22) Barangays in the Municipality of Maribojoc as reported and certified by the respective Barangay Captains, as of the year 1994..

SECTION: 4. The number of qualified and bonafide members of the CSU or
barangay tanods for purposes of group insurance coverage shall not be increased for the entire year the fact that group insurance coverage is yearly and subject for renewal in the next subsequent years;

SECTION: 5. Under no circumstances shall the bonafide members of the CSU or
barangay tanods be more than eight (8) or less than four (4) in each respective Barnagays in the Municipality of Maribojoc, except Barangay Cabawan with then (10) barangay tanods on the ground that Barangay Cabawan is the largest Barangay in the entire Municipality of Maribojoc.

SECTION: 6. The total group insurance coverage for each qualified and bonafide
members of the CSU or barangay tanods shall be borne or shouldered by the Municipal Government of Maribojoc, Bohol. No single centavo shall be imposed or collected from the members of the CSU or barangay tanods as contribution for the insurance premium.

SECTION: 7. The term of insurance coverage for each qualified and bonafide
members of the CSU or barangay tanods shall be in the amount of Ten Thousand Pesos (P10,000.00) for life insurance with double endowment in case of accidental death.. The period of coverage shall be for one (1) year and subject for renewal in the next subsequent years.

SECTION: 8. The Municipal Budget Officer is hereby advised to prepare a
supplementary Budget for the purpose of paying the total insurance premium contributions of the One Hundred Six (106) CSU or barangay tanods. It is hereby further authorized to appropriate the amount of Eight Thousand Four Hundred Forty Two Pesos and Ninety Centavos (P8,442.90) out of the general fund for the payment of insurance premium contributions of the foregoing CSU or barangay tanods at P79.65 annual premium of each barangay tanod.

SECTION: 9. Penalty Clause: In the event that the name of CSU or barangay tanod as
submitted and certified by the Barangay Captains is found out to be fictitious and more-over found out later to be not qualified or bonafide to become a member of the CSU or barangay tanod due to past criminal and immoral records, both the recommending Barangay Captains and the CSU or barangay tanod shall be subjected to disciplinary drastic action.

SECTION: 10. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval.
